High quality and low density housing scheme for Ringwood
High quality and low density housing scheme for Ringwood

Developer The Personal Touch has submitted its detailed planning application to New Forest District Council for consideration of a development in Eastfield Lane, Ringwood. Local people are invited to make representations.

Director of The Personal Touch, Mr Phil Anders said “My professional team and I have worked very hard to get to this point, having had regard to the recently published Ringwood Town Plan as well as the New Forest District Council Local Plan but also as importantly, public opinion. Indeed during December, we ran a two day exhibition at the local scout hut, which was advertised widely to attract comments from the public as to our proposals for this project. Many local residents attended and some of their comments are highlighted below in italics.”

‘’The scheme has a good visual appearance, the houses are of a sympathetic design with good size gardens and green space; a well thought through scheme.’’

Phil said ‘’The public are concerned about the seemingly ever increasing density of modern development and we have incorporated only the minimum nationally encouraged density within our scheme and have also included a mix of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom properties, including much needed affordable homes for local people’’.

Making a small but effective
dent in the housing waiting list

Ringwood’s Town Plan identifies the chronic lack of supply of affordable
housing; as part of the proposals for 26 dwellings, 9 are to be affordable rented dwellings for local people. This will clearly not solve the current affordable housing crisis but in the current economic climate, the absence of any other sizeable schemes means this is one of the few opportunities to secure such accommodationin the short to medium term.

‘’We live locally and our children attend local schools; it would be reassuring to know that there was sufficient affordable housing available in the future so that they could stay when their education is complete’’.

Phil added ‘’Every community depends upon its young people for its future prosperity and so it is essential that we provide appropriate housing to encourage them to stay. Our scheme attempts to make a contribution to dealing with this need’’.

Traditional but modern

“We were keen”, says Phil, “to produce a scheme that we, but also local people and future residents would be proud of and you will see from the scheme details, the amount of green space, including publicly accessible open space that we have provided. From Eastfield Lane when passing, all you will see once complete are the four detached houses and the open space towards the rear, which is a central focal point to the project. Our architects, DLM Design took particular care when creating the dwellings so they would be sympathetic to the Ringwood area, and this is also illustrated above’’.

In order to show how the scheme will look once complete, The Personal Touch instructed specialist CGI Professionals to show the project in 3D and this was included within the application submitted to New Forest District Council and this is illustrated above. The full application including plans and associated documents are available for viewing on New Forest District

Council’s website, under reference 08/93517 or at the District Council’s offices, in Lyndhurst .

. . . TO CREATE THE BEST POSSIBLE DEVELOPMENT THAT WE CAN . . .

RINGWOOD residents will next week have the opportunity to see and comment upon plans for a proposed new housing development in Ringwood.

Developer, The Personal Touch Ltd who are promoting the project, will be showing the new plans for land at 79 to 91 Eastfield Lane, to local people at a public exhibition, and are encouraging people to come along and give their opinions. Director of The Personal Touch, Mr Phil Anders said recently, “As a company, we want to create the best possible development that we can and we are keen to involve local people in its design by seeking their opinions at the exhibition. We genuinely want as many people to come along as possible and talk to us, so we can make any necessary amendments that will help to improve the project”.

Proposals on display
In what is seen as a rare gesture in the property world, local people will be able to see the proposals on display and will have the opportunity to talk to the developer’s representative and make their comments on a prepared form, should they wish to do so. Writing to local residents Phil says, “You will be aware that the land mentioned has had several attempts at assembly for redevelopment for residential purposes over the years.”

To hear your views
“The time is right now to seek your views on the project before the scheme is finalised in the form of a full planning application and in this respect, would like to invite you to our open presentation days and to hear your views of our proposals.”

“We look forward to meeting you on the 9th or 10th December. If you are unable to make the organised dates and would still like to discuss the proposals please write to The Personal Touch (Property Care) Ltd, 187 Pine Road,Charminster, Bournemouth BH9 1LY requesting a meeting where we will endeavour to make one of our representatives available to you.” Full details will be displayed at the 3rd Ringwood Scout Centre on Eastfield Lane, on Tuesday 9th (2.00pm to 5.00pm) and Wednesday 10th (6.00pm to 10.00pm) December.
